2022 Student Leadership
Congratulations to our Year 5 students who were awarded positions of leadership in the 2022 school year. Once again we were very fortunate to have such a high calibre of student nominations and in most cases the leadership roles were sealed by 1 point difference. Students and staff voting were very close across all positions. The 2022 student leaders participated in a handing over ceremony during our end of school Mass today and will be awarded their school badges during our beginning of school year Mass in 2022.

Our student leaders play a very important role in our school community. They are ambassadors and role models for our school and participate in many and varied activities from leading assembly each week, guided school tours, Mass Ministries, sporting events, growing and selling garden produce. I would like to acknowledge and thank our current Year 6 school leaders who have been exemplary role models to all students in our school community. We are very proud of the leadership potential and development of our students and the school values they display in their interactions and leadership roles.
Year 6 Graduation Mass
Congratulations to our Year 6 students on the celebration of their Graduation Mass this evening. A special and big THANK YOU to the Graduation Committee – Ms Joachim-Zamudio, Ms Vlajankov, Miss De Koning, Mrs Meunier, Mrs Glass, Mrs Huntington, Sensei Marshall, Mrs Privitera, Fr. Brendan and the staff who assisted on the evening to ensure the Mass was a special and memorable event for our students.
Year 6 Dinner and Graduation Ceremony
We are very much looking forward to our Year 6 Dinner and Graduation Ceremony to be held on Tuesday 14 December in the Allen Hall. Students will begin at 5.30 pm with their Graduation Dinner, followed by their Graduation Ceremony. Parents and adult family members who are attending, must show evidence of their vaccination status upon arrival. Entry for parents and family members is via the Lomas Gym.
Student Christmas Concert
Our student Christmas Concert will be held on Wednesday 15 December at 11.15 am in the Allen Hall. We are very excited to be able to gather together for the concert and to share in the talents on offer in our school, building on student learning in The Arts Inquiry unit this Term. Parents and adult family members attending must show evidence of their vaccination status upon arrival. Entry for parents and family members is via the Administration Office.
Semester Two Reports
As per DOSCEL and VCAA Guidelines, the Semester Two Report will report on student progress in Religious Education, English and Mathematics. Learning Area descriptions for all subjects will be included in the Report this Semester along with evidence of student learning in their Student Learning Portfolio. Teacher comments on student progress will be included on the students’ learning samples in their Portfolio. The Semester Two Report, PLP documentation (where required) and Student Learning Portfolio will be distributed on Monday 13 December.

The staggered start for Foundation students on the first day back of the 2022 school year is to alleviate congestion in the car park.

We hope you find having this information useful in your planning if you would like to attend certain school events and/or arranging leave if you are a working parent.
School Advisory Committee
During our whole school Mass today, we gathered to celebrate and give thanks for the year that has passed. It was a joyous occasion to be able to gather and celebrate the Eucharist together. We farewelled those who are leaving our school community- students, their families and members of staff, and welcomed the incoming 2022 student leaders. As the year draws to a close the words of St Mary MacKillop reminds us that God is always with us.

The Season Advent
Next Sunday is the third Sunday of Advent. The three Advent candles are lit on the third Sunday, two violet candles and the rose candle. The season of Advent is a time of joyful waiting as we prepare to welcome Jesus. As we light another candle on the Advent wreath, we remember that Christmas is getting closer. In next Sunday’s Gospel, we hear John the Baptist tell the crowd that there are things they can do to prepare as they wait for Jesus.
Each week a grade level has led the school in prayer. Thank you to the Foundation level students and their teachers who will lead tomorrow’s Advent liturgy, focussing this week’s prayer on the two women who trusted God. Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of his Son, Jesus. Mary trusted God. After she said yes to God, she went to visit Elizabeth. Elizabeth was so happy! She trusted God. She knew Mary was going to be Jesus’.

John the Baptist teaches the path of repentance and announces Christ.
John the Baptist tells the crowd to share what they have and make other good choices to prepare for Jesus. There are things we can do during Advent to prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth. We can pray. We can help our families. We can share. What is something you can do this week to prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth?
Christmas Appeal supporting St Vincent de Paul
Not long until Christmas! Donations of suitable new toys for children aged 5-12 years would be appreciated in support of this year’s St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Please place gifts in classroom collection boxes. The Appeal concludes tomorrow 10th December. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Child Safety and Wellbeing
At Mary MacKillop Primary School, we believe that ensuring the safety of the students in our care is an integral part of who we are as a Catholic faith community. We adhere to Victorian Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order No. 870. We embed a culture of child safety and the matter is taken very seriously.

Parents wishing to enrol their child/children in the Sacramental program in 2022 are asked to complete the information needed in the letter distributed by the Parish. Completed forms are to be returned to the School Office by the 15th December 2021.

2021 Fee Information
Fee levy credits have now been applied to all applicable fee accounts for 2021 and statements have been emailed to families early this week.
We ask that families who have outstanding accounts please make payment by 15th December 2021. If you are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 please contact the office for options available to support your family.
2022 Fee Information
Hard copies of the 2022 Fee information was provided to all families in early November. If you have not received this information, please check Operoo, the School Website and your child’s school bag for a hard copy.
Parents who hold a Centrelink health care card, maybe eligible for CSEF Funding of $125.00 per student and also Fee Rebates to reduce your fee account to $520.00 per year plus any CSEF funding. Please complete the CSEF, Fee Rebate & Direct Debit Arrangement and provide to the office before the end of term.
Families who have a current direct debit arrangement in place in 2021- this will be rolled over to 2022 andbe adjusted according to our 2022 fee structure.
