School and Grade Mass and Reconciliation Celebrations
These celebrations have resumed this term. Parents and friends are welcome to join students during liturgical celebrations. Adherence to COVID safe plans applies when assembling. Current restrictions apply as per announcements by Victorian Government and guidelines directed by DOSCEL.
A Whole School Mass is planned for Thursday 27th May 2021 celebrating Catholic Education Week.
The three Parish Schools will join together during Mass on Saturday 22nd May 2021, 6pm at OLHC Church to celebrate the Bicentenary of Catholic Education in Australia. Please mark this event in your calendar. We would like to see many Mary MacKillop school families attend and together with Don Bosco and Trinity Schools help to bring to life the theme of this year’s special event Faith in the Future.
A number of students will be taking part in a combined choir, as well as participating in the Entrance and Offertory procession.
During Catholic Education Week families are encouraged to visit the newly Blessed and installed Stations of the Cross Garden. As you can appreciate more work is needed to beautify the area with suitable plants and outdoor décor. In celebrating our Catholic Identity during Catholic Education Week parents are invited to make a donation towards the garden area of the sacred space. Families may wish to donate shrubs, plants, pots, pottery, outdoor garden décor, etc. All donations will be acknowledged. A flyer will be distributed with further details.
Trinity Families is a charity which operates to provide funding for service providers who support families in the Gippsland and outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It makes annual distributions to charities from the monies earned from its trust fund investments. Disbursements are made without reference to faith or denomination and are overseen by independent trustees. To support this important charity in the Diocese of Sale, the MacKillop Kids Group members are initiating a Badge Making Fundraiser.
All children this week will have an opportunity to design and make their own special badge for Family Week. A small $2 donation for each badge would be greatly appreciated. All monies raised will go directly to the Bishop’s Trinity Fund. All cash donations will need to be directed to your child’s class teacher.
Donations of $143.30 was collected during last Friday’s Mother’s Day breakfast. Thankyou for supporting Catholic Care services.
The Ascension of the Lord, Cycle B - Sunday, May 16, 2021
In next Sunday’s Gospel, we hear the instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples before he was taken up to heaven. Jesus is telling his disciples that they will be able to do some of the very things that he had done during his life. Forty days after his Resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven. Mark’s Gospel tells us that a seat was already prepared for him, at the right hand of God. Because Jesus is with God now in heaven, he can help us as we try to follow his example. We certainly have a powerful friend in Jesus. He will help us as we live his Gospel today.
