Mark 9:2-10
Jesus is transfigured in the presence of Peter, James, and John.
On the second Sunday of Lent in each Lectionary cycle, the Gospel reading proclaims the story of Jesus’ Transfiguration. This event is reported in each of the Synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and Luke. This year, in Lectionary Cycle B, we hear Mark’s report of this event. God affirmed that Jesus is his Son, and that we are to listen to him. What are some ways that you can listen to Jesus.
Project Compassion
Spanning across the six weeks of Lent, Project Compassion brings many schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for the most marginalised communities around the world.
The Project Compassion theme reminds us that what we do today can have an impact for all future generations. This message invites us to step up for those who do not have the essential resources they need for their survival and those whose needs at this time are far beyond ours.
During the Ash Wednesday Mass held last week each grade received a Project Compassion Box which linked saying ‘Amen’ to the Body of Christ and ‘being’ the Body of Christ in the world today. Families and students are invited to make a donation by dropping a few coins in the class Project Compassion box during Lent. By putting compassion into action, we can make a difference today, for all future generations. Your generous support is appreciated.
