Australian Early Development Census (AEDC)
In early 2021, our school, along with thousands of others across the country will begin preparations for the fifth Australian Early Development Census (AEDC). The AEDC gives us a national picture of the development, health and wellbeing of children in their first year of full-time school. Since 2009, the census results have helped communities, schools and governments plan services and develop better policies to target support for children and families. Students don’t miss any class time, and parents/carers don’t need to supply schools with any new information for the census. Participation in the AEDC is voluntary. Parents/carers don’t need to take any action unless they choose not to include their children in the census. To find out more about the census and how communities are using the data to help children and families visit the AEDC website: www.aedc.gov.au. If you have any questions, you can contact Sally Lane or Claire Giles – Foundation Teachers.
Open Days
Today and Tuesday 27 April, we held our Open Day Tours. It was wonderful to see so many families interested in our school and coming to ‘see’ what learning is like at Mary MacKillop. Our Year 6 Leaders are to be commended on their role in taking our new families on school tours. They have shared first-hand knowledge of what it is like to experience student centred engaging learning and are exemplary role models for our school. We have very limited places available for 2022 enrolments – be sure to get your enrolment in quickly if you would like to secure a place for your Foundation student in 2022.
Insight SRC Surveys
The Insight SRC Survey is due to be completed by Friday 7 May. The Insight SRC Survey data provides valuable evidence for the school leadership team in understanding the current culture of our school and assists in the development of necessary climate which support and sustain expert teacher practice and improved student learning outcomes. Staff, selected parents and students from both the Middle and Senior levels have been asked to complete the survey and we look forward to analysing the results to ensure continued growth on our school improvement journey.
