Today Footsteps Dance Company led the first of three dance sessions for our students in Foundation to Year 6 levels. New dance routines to Christmas-themed music are being taught to the students. At our annual school concert on Thursday, December 14, starting at 1:00pm, the students will showcase the dances they have learned. All parents, families, and friends are welcome to attend and watch the performances. The afternoon's presentations will begin with two songs performed by residents from the Bupa Aged Care Berwick Centre. Remember to wear something festive!

First Sunday of Advent, Cycle B

Sunday, December 3, 2023

Mark 13:33-37
Jesus warns his disciples to be watchful so that they will be ready when the Son of Man comes.

Today we begin the season of Advent, which marks the start of a new liturgical year for the Church. The readings for Sunday Mass are arranged on a three-year cycle. Each year features a different Gospel -- Matthew, Mark, or Luke. Readings from the Gospel of John are interspersed throughout all three years. With this year's first Sunday of Advent, we begin Cycle B of the Lectionary, which focuses our attention on the Gospel of Mark. This week and next week, our readings from Mark's Gospel present two important Advent themes: the Lord's return at the end of time and John the Baptist's preparation for Jesus. This Sunday’s reading reminds us that Advent is not only about preparing for the celebration of Christmas but also about keeping ourselves ready to receive Christ when he comes to us in glory at the end of time. Like the disciples, we do not know when this will be. We, too, are called to be watchful and always ready. Pray together that through this Advent season your family will be more prepared to receive Jesus.

Parish Schools Parent Prayer Group

Parents and families are invited to attend our next Parent Prayer Group. Next week Mary MacKillop hosts the prayer group and we invite all families from across the three Parish schools to join us. Many thanks to those parents who have attended the previous gatherings. If you have 15 minutes after class morning prayer please join us in the Chapel.

There is just one final session remaining for Term 4. Fr Ajin, is scheduled to facilitate the session. The chapel will be open from 9am for all those interested in attending with sign in sheets available. We are looking forward to seeing you at the prayer group.

We warmly invite parents and parishioners to gather in our school chapel at 9am on Wednesday 6th December for prayer - Focus: Advent with Fr Ajin

Class and Whole School Mass schedule

Please note the upcoming buddy mass and whole school mass schedule during the remaining weeks of Term 4. Parents and friends are welcome to attend.

Annual Christmas Gift Appeal

This year's Annual Christmas Gift Appeal in support of St. Vincent de Paul is organised by the Mary MacKillop Kids group. This is a wonderful chance for the school community to help those in our neighbourhood who need assistance over the Christmas season. The MacKillop Kids group gathers to uphold the values of Catholic Social Teaching and are committed to support this social justice initiative.  Your donations are greatly appreciated. Please place donations in the classroom collection boxes by Friday 8th December. The collection has been extended for another week! Thank you!
