In Japan, March 3rd is ひな祭り(Hinamatsuri) or the Dolls festival. On this day, young children dress up in traditional clothes, eat special foods and look at displays of dolls. The dolls are dressed to look like an ancient  Japanese court. 

In Japanese this week, we celebrated Hinamatsuri by creating some Emperor and Empress dolls.  Grade 2 students made festive headbands and practiced writing Hinamatsuri in Japanese characters.
