YEAR 3 NEWS
It has been a very busy Term in Year 3! We have been learning about many different things over the last few weeks. Here are some of the learning highlights we would like to share with you:
Religious Education
There are lots of sacred objects that are used for a certain purpose during the mass. A chalice is a metal cup used to drink the wine from, the offertory table is used to put the bread on before it is blessed, once it’s blessed it goes in the tabernacle, there are lots of others too. - Lattika
Mathematics
I find it easy to tell o’clock and half past time. I can read time on analogue and digital clocks. This is useful throughout the day. - Gurgeet
We have all been working on reading time. In my group, we were working on reading 24-hour time. Now I know that time goes higher than just 12 on a clock. - Kade
I learnt how to recognise different 2D shapes. I learnt new words like “vertices”. I also learnt to tell the difference between shapes with lots of sides like hexagon and octogon. An octopus has 8 legs and an octagon has 8 sides. ‘Six’ and ‘hexagon’ both have an ‘x’ - that’s how I remember the name. - Katya
English
We have been working on writing historical narratives about Captain James Cook. First we had to research and then we wrote plans for our writing. Now we are working on our drafts and publishing. Did you know that Captain Cook was cooked in Hawaii? We found that fact very interesting! - Layla and Alexandra
Inquiry
I found out interesting facts about what we celebrate in Australia. We need to remember important events that happened in Australia over the years. - Wuri
