Catholic Education Week

Tomorrow DOSCEL will launch Catholic Education Week at a Eucharist Mass held in Traralgon.

It begins a week that is celebrated by all Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sale. This year the theme is “Go out into the world and spread the Good News to all creation”, encouraging us as members of a school community to enact a vision for a better world, one where people can live in harmony with each other and with the environment, in response to the call of Pope Francis.

All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sale are living this call in many ways. The spirit of Jesus is present in every Catholic school community spanning across south east Victoria from Narre Warren and Cranbourne in the west, Wonthaggi and Philip Island in the south, to Orbost in the east. There are 38 Primary Catholic schools and 7 Secondary Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sale. There really is a lot to celebrate isn’t there?

All families and friends of our school community are welcome to join with us as we celebrate Catholic Education Week together next Thursday 2nd June during a Mass celebration in Allen Hall beginning at 9.00am

A number of photos from each of the three Parish schools in the Narre Warren Parish will be on display in the Church foyer this weekend along with a special PowerPoint presentation shared at all Masses held this weekend at Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Take a few minutes to look through the photos and enjoy the slideshow.

Ms Maria Kirkwood – Chief Executive Officer/Director of Catholic Education emphasises this annual event, “Catholic Education Week is a highlight of the year for the Diocese of Sale, as the broader Catholic education community comes together to celebrate our Catholic identity and unique mission.”

The Ascension of the Lord, Cycle C

Sunday, May 29, 2022

Luke 24:46-53

Jesus is taken to heaven and the disciples remain in Jerusalem awaiting his sending of the Spirit.

Next Sunday is the liturgical celebration of the Ascension of the Lord, when Jesus was taken to heaven on the 40th day after Easter. In Cycle C, our Gospel is taken from the conclusion of the Gospel of Luke. In this Sunday's Gospel, we hear the instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples before he was taken up to heaven. They were to tell people all over the world about Jesus’ life, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension. They were to preach repentance—or turning our hearts away from sin and back to God—and forgiveness of sins.

Parent Education

Do’s and don’ts of discipline

Discipline is one of the most confusing - and challenging - topics that parents grapple with. But it doesn’t have to be so hard.
