The Year 2 students have been busy exploring strategies to help them in developing their understanding of multiplication and division. They have enjoyed using our new ‘Show Me’ boards, as well as other concrete materials to create arrays and ‘groups of’ to help demonstrate their understanding. 

As part of their Design and Technology unit, the Year 2’s went through the design process to create a paper plane that could fly further than 3 meters using a variety of materials. Needless to say, lots of fun was had! 

The writing focus for the last few weeks has been ‘procedural writing’. Students have discussed various language features and structures for this genre. They were very creative when writing their very own recipe for ‘Bush Stew’ and practised their typing skills to publish their pieces. Hopefully these recipes are not tried at home! 

The students were extremely excited to be part of the student led fundraisers and brought their enthusiasm in droves to the hall on Thursday afternoon. The excitement was almost tangible as they raced around to as many stalls as possible, trying to support as many charities as they could.
